As we finish another school year, it seems appropriate to mention two former LCS Eagles and their high school success -- Nicholas O'Neal and Brayden Caldwell. Nick was recently named 2026 Valedictorian of Fort Fairfield High School, while Brayden is the 2026 Salutatorian of Caribou High School!

In the fall, Nick will be pursuing a degree in Constructional Engineering Technology at the University of Maine at Orono. During his high school career at FFHS, Nick was the varsity soccer captain (which won the 2025 Class D state championship), varsity basketball captain, played varsity baseball and was the recipient of the Fort Fairfield Rotary Club Spirit Award; member of Student Council; and a student advisor at FFHS.

Brayden received numerous awards at Caribou High School, including four-time highest honors, four-time academic excellence in wellness, social studies, and mathematics, as well as three V.I.K.T.O.R. awards for English and social studies. Brayden was also recognized as a student of the month at CHS, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. He was also named captain of the Varsity Soccer Team.

Brayden is a University of Maine Pulp and Paper Scholar and was a second-place finisher in the National Titan Challenge. In the fall, Brayden will attend the University of Maine, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace Engineering.

The LCS staff and students couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments -- further proof that our Eagles continue to fly high after leaving us! Whether at CHS, FFHS, MSSM, or any other secondary school, our students have the foundation for success!

Best of luck as you go forward Nick, Brayden, and all the other recent graduates from LCS! We are proud of you all!
